Providing health care and confidential advice
Our school nurse has two main roles:
- To give confidential advice, care and treatment to students and their parents and/or carers
- To look after and protect students’ physical and emotional health
Our school nurse is Ms Polly Mattia. She is in school on Thursdays.
Girls, parents / carers or staff can drop in, or make an appointment to see her via a note to reception or telephone: 020 8102 4005 or 07908 130 138. (Polly visits other schools so when you are making contact please remember to mention LMS, your daughter’s name, her date of birth and what class she is in).
The health questionnaire is given out to all new joiners. A copy will be given to your daughter at school. You should complete and return it to Polly via school so she can support any health concerns while in school.
Polly is involved with teaching the following topics:
Year 7 Puberty and periods
Year 8 Healthy eating
Year 9: Contraception, Sexually Transmitted Infections, (STIs) sex and the law
Year 10: Body image
Year 11: Resilience and dealing with stress
Supporting the immunisation team with:
Year 8: Three Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines to protect against cervical cancer
