Mental and Physical Wellbeing
This enrichment programme forms part of our commitment at Lady Margaret School to developing all our students as confident young adults, by encouraging them to put their mental and physical wellbeing at the heart of their studies and to develop self-confidence, resilience, resourcefulness and mutual respect.
We believe that all Year 12 and 13 students should be involved and have designed the programme to run within the core day. Every Wednesday afternoon the academic curriculum is suspended for the Sixth Form and each student has a wellbeing activity as part of her timetable. Students in Year 12 and 13 participate in different activities throughout the year.
The programme is designed to complement the students’ academic curriculum so whether it is time to relax in a busy week, make new friends, pursue a new activity or one in more depth there are a variety of options on offer. Students are actively encouraged to challenge themselves, try different things and move out of their comfort zone.
This year the activities on offer as part of the Wellbeing Programme include:
- Be a tourist in your own city
- Cooking for university
- Crafternoons
- Exploring spirituality
- Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) – by application and selection only
- Hauora
- Making Music: developing songwriting skills for creative composition
- Multi-sports
- South Africa: becoming the ‘Rainbow Nation’
- Strength
- Walking
- Yoga
- Your Money Matters
