The PE Department are extremely proud of the wide range of extra curricular activities on offer to our students. We have a busy extra curricular schedule that provides countless options for girls to take part in sport at lunchtime, before school and after school. We also have strong links with many local clubs and encourage our students to join up to these clubs. Participation across all clubs is high and we encourage all students to be fully involved in the extra curricular life of the school. Clubs are delivered by teaching staff and specialist coaches throughout the year.
We have a very strong record in Borough competitions competing against local schools in a variety of sports. We also run a netball tour once a year, previous years have seen us return from Malta with 3 trophies for our teams. Last year we took Year 7,8, 9 and 10 netball teams to Shrewsbury to compete in a national competition which saw the Year 10 and Year 7 team return as winners and Year 8 and 9 as runners-up. The Year 11 netball team also boast an unbeaten season 2018-2019. Every year teams from LMS attend Lord’s to compete in the Lady Taverner’s tournament. We have an excellent record in this event and it is a highlight of the year for our cricketers.
Over the past four years we have been lucky enough to link up with Fulham Reach Boat Club. During the 2018-2019 year we had a number of successes including one of our Year 11 girls being given the honour of doing the coin toss for the women’s Oxford and Cambridge Boat race. Many of our girls are now a part of the future blues initiative and are competing (and winning) regularly. Our teams regularly compete at regattas (Ball Cup, School Head and Putney to name a few).
For eight years we have entered the global dance competition Rock Challenge. Every year we have gone from strength to strength both in terms of numbers of girls involved and our placing at the event. We were delighted to achieve 4th place in our recent entry; already our thoughts are turning to next years event.
